Celtic have been unable to add to their squad on deadline day after winger Lewis Morgan left for David Beckham's Inter Miami.

Boss Neil Lennon had hoped to make a signing, but the club were unable to get the deal they sought over the line.

Earlier, a loan deal for Newcastle's Christian Atsu had been set up but the winger decided against the move.

Celtic added Polish forward Patryk Klimala and Ivory Coast midfielder Ismaila Soro during January.

Scotland cap Morgan, 23, joins the MLS side for an undisclosed fee after just 31 Celtic appearances in two years.

In confirming the deal, Inter Miami described Premiership champions Celtic as a "Scottish Championship side".

Morgan cost Celtic Β£300,00 from St Mirren and was immediately loaned back to the Paisley club in January 2018.

The midfielder, who has two caps, then failed to establish himself at Celtic and spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland.

The new MLS season starts next month in what will be the maiden campaign for owner and president Beckham's new franchise.
