Ipswich Town 3-0 Shrewsbury Town

Two goals and a sending off within the first 45 minutes helped unbeaten Ipswich Town retain top spot in League One following a 3-0 victory over 10-man Shrewsbury Town.

Kayden Jackson opened the scoring in the second minute before a 10th-minute James Norwood penalty.

The visitors lost midfielder Shaun Whalley seven minutes before the break when he was given his marching orders, before Flynn Downes netted on 69 minutes to complete a third successive win.

Jackson beat Shrewsbury goalkeeper Max O'Leary with a firm strike inside the penalty area following build up involving Danny Rowe and Norwood to fire the hosts into an early lead.

After a jinking run by Kane Vincent-Young, the Ipswich full-back was then fouled by Josh Laurent in the penalty area - and the resulting spot-kick was converted by Norwood.

Sean Goss's free-kick then led to Shrewsbury defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell hitting the post from close range before - seven minutes before the break - Whalley was given a second yellow card for a bad foul.

Ipswich then sealed it from a dazzling move down the right involving Vincent-Young, Gwion Edwards and Jackson. That led to a cross which was headed home by midfielder Downes.
