Oscar De La Hoya: Boxing great will not make comeback
American boxing great Oscar De La Hoya has confirmed that he will not be coming out of retirement.
De La Hoya, 42, a former six-weight world champion, after losing to Manny Pacquiao.
He had recently described his chances of fighting again as
"After speaking to my family and following a great deal of introspection, I have decided to stay retired," De La Hoya said in a statement.
In an interview with ESPN on 22 June, De La Hoya had said he would consider a comeback because he "missed the competition of fighting the very best".
Since retiring, De La Hoya has become a boxing promoter but has also battled alcohol and drug addictions.
