Think ironing is dull? You're not alone.

But now there's a whole new leisure movement dedicated to livening this tedious chore up.

ironing
Is this ironing? Yes, it is. Is this extreme ironing? No.

It's called Extreme Ironing. And it's taking South Yorkshire by storm.

Extreme Ironing afficionados get their kicks by ironing in the open air - and the more outlandish the environment, the better.

Mountains, rivers, tall buildings, mineshafts... no location is unsuitable for a quick spot of ironing.

The benefits of the pursuit are clear. Good exercise. A sense of exhilaration. And really, really smart clothes.
