Owen Bentley, original team of 1967 as he is now

Owen Bentley

Owen was at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Sheffield on the very first day they broadcast, but only by default. He should have been launching Radio Stoke, but their start was delayed by a local outbreak of Foot and Mouth.

:: Owen Bentley
Programme Organiser, 1967 and 1974-5

How did you come to work for Radio Sheffield?

In 1967 because Radio Stoke was held up by foot and mouth, I only stayed a few weeks then, but came back as programme organiser for a year in 1974/5 after a stint in Botswana.

Manager at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Leicester, Head of Local and Network Radio in the Midlands... Now I'm in "retirement" but still working as hard as ever - training abroad, organising Local Radio's 40th anniversary celebrations and the Frank Gillard Awards.
