exhibition at the Next Step gallery in Southampton looks at how photography has
developed over the years and how different methods can capture images in different
ways. |

The LRDA exhibition
showcases the work of 10 top emerging photographers, each selected for the varying
methods and techniques they use to take a picture. They
have been brought together by aspace, the Southampton based art organisation,
to produce work that explores how photography has developed over the years. They
not only look at the techniques that have been lost but also the new technology
which is taking over.  | | Image

We
all take photos - they are a permanent way to record a moment in time. But is
the image we capture on camera a true likeness of the event that occured? The
exhibition raises this question. Cameras
are now so advanced that they can adapt automatically to their surroundings; changing
shutter speeds, filters and analysing the light to create the perfect, idealised
picture. Digital
cameras have taken over in favour of the traditional, film loaded cameras and
the photographers also look at how this has an effect on the images. These
