Indigo

Indigo have their own style but don't really know where their name came from. Find out more about them.

Who are Indigo?

Sam Boxell on guitar and lead vocals; Drew Franks on drums and backing vocals; and Josh Brown on bass guitar.

Where in Somerset are you from?

Ashcott

When did you form?

At the end of october 2006

How did you get together?

Indigo

We met through doing a school production.

We all applied to session the music for the Crispin School production of Godspell and fell in love with the way each of us played.

How would you describe your music?

We kind of have two different types of songs that we write - a soft but slightly rocky style, like our songs Freedom and As She Wakes, and a more heavy style, like our songs Maybe and I'll Be Ok.

In a way, it is our own style in the sense that you couldn't say it sounds like one band, because it sounds like loads.

How did the band gets its name?

We don't really know, it is quite random. But where ever it came from, we have it!

Who are your musical influences?

There are so many it would be impossible to list them all, but we like to listen to Lost Phrophets, Jet, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, SRV, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

Well, the most memorable gig, for the right reasons, is the Crispin and Strode Battle of the Bands.

Indigo

We didn't win but were told by everyone we had the biggest crowd response, and we all agree that we played the best we could and had a hell of a lot of fun.

Where would you most like to play?

Glastonbury Festival - no question!

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself

  • We write and record all our music in a home studio we put together ourselves.
  • Drew has the 12th biggest white-man Afro in Britain.
  • We have all separately worked with major producer James Winchester.
  • Most of our best riffs are written we we are nodding off to sleep.
