Who are Snatch?

  • Christian Liberati: guitar, vocal and spiritualist
  • Justin Liberati: saxophone, sexophone, vibes and vocals
  • Leigh Ingham: bass guitar, lead and backing shout
  • David: percussion
  • Linc:Ìýpercussion
  • Sure:Ìýpercussion
  • Steve Pasty: big drums

Plus various horn and drummers

Where in Somerset are you from?

Bath

When did you form?

1990s

How did you get together?

Snatch

The Liberati brothers and Leigh grew up together in a quagmire of chavdom.

In theÌý1990s, they found a release in ska and funk, with a slight hint of jazz, reggae and punk, and set about forming several line-ups, before making the original Snatchism demo in 1996.

They played the Nanna Obscri stage at Glasters that year.

How would you describe your music?

Ska and funk, with a slight hint of jazz, reggae and punk. Original urban-folk.

How did the band gets its name?

A snatch is when a canal boat takes up the slack, and when a weight-lifter manages to lift the weight up in one motion.

We're named Snatch because all of our songs are heavily influenced, yet remain original.

Who are your musical influences?

Zappa, Zoots.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

The Jazz Stage's green room at Glasters, with Galliano dancing.

Where would you most like to play?

The Hollywood Bowl

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself

Dave won the Jazz Stage final with his band Moya, and got a gig first thing on the Friday morning of Glastonbury 2005.

That was the year the electric went, and it was a wash-out!
