Who are Given? Chad Williams on vocals and guitar, Simon Ashdown on lead guitar, Rich Davies on bass, and Matt Ferret on drums. Where in Somerset you from? The Yeovil area (ish). When did you form? The beginning of 2004. How did you get together?

Chad, Rich and Matt met through a mutual friend, who's a walking phonebook of nearly all the musicians in Yeovil. We met Simon at a film premiere in South Petherton last Christmas (the film was a clean one). How would you describe your music? Indie rock (ish). How did the band gets its name? A drunk misinterpretation of Gibbon, and the realisation that Gibbon is a bit of a silly name anyway. Who are your musical influences? Far too many to even start to name them. What is your most memorable gig so far? Our first gig, which we played at The Alex in Yeovil last year. It was rammed. People didn't have a clue what we were going to sound like, but they were happily surprised. We rocked and the beer flowed. Where would you most like to play? Glast... you know where we're going with this one. At least two of us would also like to play at Huish Park in a big stadium rock bonanza, with Gary Johnson as a special guest on tambourine. Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself. One of us is a mechanic and only drinks cider.
One of us likes to drive small economic cars around muddy country lanes.
One of us drives a fork lift around all day, and is an avid Yeovil Town supporter.
One of us works for a theatre/film company, and has just given up drinking JD (for the fourth time). |
