Somerset Sounds - Artists

Genius Move
Matt, Ben, Tom and Joe are Genius Move

Genius Move

There's only seven testicles between them, and one of the band members is gradually evolving into Beppe from EastEnders. Check out the big and groovy metal sounds of Shepton's Genius Move.

Who are Genius Move?

Matt Burr on vocals, Joe BryanÌýon guitar, Tom Couch on drums, and Ben Morris on bass.

Where in Somerset are you from?

Shepton Mallet.

When did you form?

Genius Move
Genius Move have been together since May 2004

In May 2004.

How did you get together?

We all know each other from back in the day. The towns in Somerset aren't that big, so before long you've met everyone - it's just a case of who plays instruments and who doesn't.

How would you describe your music?

Big, groovy, guitars, metal. Like a bat out of hell, it'll be gone when the mornin' comes!

How did the band gets its name?

From the signature move of the 1980s WWF wrestler, The Genius.

Who are your musical influences?

Genius Move
Genius Move like it big and groovy

Zeppelin, Tool, Deftones, Guns N' Roses, Amen, Soundgarden, Corrosion of Conformity, Abba and Discharge.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

It was at Rockers Live in Taunton. We were on our way there to see another band and ended up playing, with only 20 minutes notice, 'cos someone pulled out.

Where would you most like to play?

We live for the day when we can say "hello Donington" - the battle cry for generations of long-haired, snakebite-drinking, denim-wearing metal heads.

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself.

Between us, we have only seven testicles. Also, one of us has a genetic disorder that makes him look more like Beppe from EastEnders with each passing year!
