What is Freeview?

Freeview is the name of the UK's digital terrestrial television service,Μύdelivered to your home through an aerial.ΜύYou do not need to subscribe toΜύFreeview but you must have a TV licence.

Freeview is a joint venture between UK broadcasters, including ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ and ITV.Μύ You can receive itΜύon a range of devices, including televisions, set top boxes and PVRs (personal video recorders).

Freeview television and radio services are broadcast around the UK using a number of multiplexes. Three multiplexes have the main UK channels, which include those from the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel Five, and are available to 98.5% of households in the UK.Μύ

There are also three commercialΜύmultiplexes available to up to 90% of households, two commercial multiplexes available to up toΜύ63% of households and a number of local TVΜύmultiplexes. Our guide to Freeview multiplexes has more information.
