Abstract
The Universal Control API is a RESTful Web API designed to allow the core functionality of any network-connected set-top box, personal video recorder. Internet radio or similar device to be controlled from client software running on another device on the home network. This note specifies the REQUIRED and RECOMMEDED behaviour for Universal Control server and client implementations. Informative sections are included where necessary to explain the context and reasons for the normative decisions that have been made.
