Design of acoustic pulse measuring apparatus
Report 1947-02
Abstract
This report describes the apparatus which has been developed to enable the acoustic properties of studios and concert halls to be studied by means of short pulses of sound. Three different sounds can be used: the noise of an electric spark, a short pulse of tone from a loudspeaker or a pulse produced by rapturing pneumatically a paper diaphragm. The resulting sound picked up by a microphone is examined with the aid of the display on a cathode ray oscilloscope.
