Fiona Rivera

Dr. Fiona Rivera is a Senior R&D Development Producer in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Research & Development. Fiona drives projects that help invent the future and move beyond the state of the art in media and broadcast. She currently leads aspects of the Horizon Europe project, Mixed, Augmented, and Extended Reality Media Pipeline ).

Fiona joined the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ for the international innovation action which developed a media AI software platform for crowdsourcing and enhancing video for broadcast. Fiona led public facing trials and pilots at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Pride in London, and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Music Day. She also worked on the European which harnessed data and technology for journalism, before returning to extended reality (XR) production innovation roots in MAX-R. Fiona also served as the publicity chair and graphic designer for and led the design of the virtualised interactive global online conference for .

Prior to joining the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, Fiona gained extensive experience on the European digital scene as a technical producer, researcher, and 3D artist for international collaborative actions that were precursors to the metaverse including: Real and Virtual Engagement In Realistic Immersive Environments (); Bringing the Media Internet to Life () and 3D Media Processing for Internet and Social Networking (). Other digital innovation projects included , and .

Fiona holds a Virtual Reality (VR) and 3D Animation PhD in Electronic Engineering , an M.Sc. in interactive digital media and VR (University of Sussex), a computing B.Sc. () and a B.Sc. in Economics (). She also trained in 3D content production () and in 3D animation ().
