Charity Success
08/03/2010
The charity that is refusing any more donations.

Four months ago, Cockermouth found itself under water and the in the headlines as homes and businesses were ruined by massive flooding and a policemen lost his life preventing motorists from crossing one of many collapsing bridges. In an attempt to help those worst affected, the Cumbrian Flood Recovery Fund was set up and the result of their fundraising efforts has been remarkable. They haveÌýraised more than two million pounds, far more than they ever dreamed of, and have now said that they do not want any more donations. So why has this particular charity appeal been so successful and why are others not quite so successful? Andy Beeforth, Director of the Cumbria Community Foundation which runs the Flood Recovery Appeal, and the former chairman of the Institute of Fundraising - Joe Saxton - discuss charity finances.
