Sgroppino (Lemon Gelato with Vodka and Sparkling Wine)

Ingredients

300ml/Β½ pint (1ΒΌ cups) lemon ice cream or sorbet
4-6 ice cubes
125ml/4fl oz (Β½ cup) vodka
250ml/9fl oz (1 cup) sparkling wine (in the Veneto, it's the ever present Prosecco)
grated zest of 1 lemon


Method

Place the ice cream or sorbet, ice cubes, vodka and wine in a blender or food processor and blend until the mixture is thick, creamy and barely pourable. Transfer it to iced wineglasses, sprinkle on the lemon zest and serve with small spoons.
