A radio soap star over 50 years ago, turned published poet in her nineties

Three years before The Archers made their debut on the Â鶹ԼÅÄ, the Luscombes and their brood were the nation's favourite radio family. The programme aired in 1948 and in the cast was a young mother called Aileen Mills, who played the character Dot in the original series.

Aileen is now 93 and has published her first book of poetry, simply called Poems to Read Aloud.

In the first of a new series on inspirational women of a certain age (you need to be over 90 to qualify),Ìý Aileen talks about her radio days.Ìý

Aileen Mill's book Poems to Read AloudÌýis available from Jeremy Mills Publishing, ISBN:0954648439 . See www.jeremymillspublishing.co.uk
