Can music helpÌýyoung offenders stay out of prison?
For nearly 10 years The Irene Taylor Trust's Music in Prisons project has been bringing the arts to prisoners across the country. Now, for the first time its work at a women's prison in Essex is to be properly evaluated.
All the inmates who've taken part will be tracked for a year to study re-offending rates and behaviour to see whether the project does have any long-term benefits. Around 30 juveniles and young offenders at Bullwood Hall have been working with several older women serving life sentences to write and perform the musical, Fair's Fair, directed by Robert Chevara.Ìý
