Ìý Francine Raymond: hen keeper 05ÌýApr 2004 Ìý
Image: pair of hens
Francine is the doyenne of the chicken world.

She started keeping hens in her garden 12 years ago. She would be the first to remind you that nearly everyone kept their own hens before World War II, but the tradition has dwindled since.

Francine is the author of a book which gives basic advice to beginners at hen-keeping, and she's also released a video showing how it's done.

Sarah Woolman goes to Suffolk to visit Francine's kitchen garden and to meet the chickens.

Francine Raymond, Big Book of Garden Hens, Publ. Kitchen Garden; ISBN: 0953285731 .
