The poet Kathleen Raine, who died last week, was born in 1908 and began publishing in the 1920s.
Her three volume autobiography records her move from botany student with an eye for beauty down the microscope, to writer. Her work, which spanned the 20th century, centred on the natural world and the presence of divinity within it.
Ian Skelly pays tribute to Kathleen Raine. Autobiographies: Kathleen Raine, Published 1996 by Skoob Seriph, ISBN: 1871438411
