It's 50 years since the mobile Hostess trolley was invented - and the British dinner party was revolutionised.
No longer - or so the theory went - would the lady of the household be banished to the kitchen to make sure all the food was ready on time, while her husband entertained their guests over drinks.
Halifax is now the home of the Hostess trolley - the Crosslee factory there makes 20,000 a year. But with the emphasis now on informal, rather than formal, dining - what's the secret of its enduring appeal?
