Ìý Party Etiquette Thursday 26 December 2002 Ìý
Now some of us love parties - know exactly what to bring, how to do small talk and move on and how to eat, drink and chatter at the same time without feeling you're rubbing your tummy and patting your head. Some of us are not so at ease.

So how were the standards for informal gatherings set, what are the rules that must be obeyed today and how can you learn to relax and love a potentially painful social minefield?

Jackie Clunes and Ruby Turner join Jenni again, together with Francis Collard, a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum and a contributor to a book called Elegant Eating and Drusilla Beyfus of the Daily Telegraph and author of Modern Manners.

Lady Behave: A Guide To Modern Manners by Drusilla Beyfus and Anne Edwards, published by Cassell & Company Ltd, London. 1956
Elegant Eating: Four Hundred Years of Dining in Style edited by Philippa Glanville & Hilary Young by V & A Publications; ISBN: 1851773371
