Meera Syal is the writer, actress, comic and playright, who has now adapted her best-selling book 'Anita and Me' into a new film.

It is the story of Meena ? twelve years old and growing up in a Black Country village in the 1970's. When she meets the feisty blonde Anita, Meena enters the difficult world of teenage friendship.
Meera Syal and Sheila McClennon were students together in Manchester and the last time they met was on stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Meera talks to Sheila talk about the film.
