From the hard labour of Victorian wash-houses to the twentieth century's demands to wash whiter than white, a woman's work is never done when it comes to laundry.
Dirty Linen, an exhibition charting the history of women's burden to keep clean, has just opened at the Women's Library.
Director of the Library Antonia Byatt and history lecturer Dr Sally Sheard join Jenni to discuss it's significance. Dirty Linen Exhibition and Series of Talks: 28th September until 21st December 2002 at the Women's Library, Old Castle Street, London E1 7NT, Tel: +44 (0)20 7320 2222
