Alma Cogan was the most highly paid women in British showbusiness in the 50s and 60s, touring the top venues with a string of happy upbeat songs like Sugartime and Dreamboat.
But the 'girl with a laugh in her voice' died tragically young in 1966 at the age of 34.
Jenni explores her continuing appeal with Alma's sister Sandra Caron and writer and broadcaster Dave Quantick.
To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Alma Cogan's death, on 5th November EMI will release a commemorative 4 CD box set featuring 100 recordings by Alma, including previously unreleased tracks. The Girl With a Laugh in her Voice (EMI 5358192) includes a 64 page biography written by her sister Sandra Caron with rare photographs.
