Augusta Read Thomas studied at Northwestern University, where she now teaches, Yale University and London's Royal Academy of Music.

She's won numerous awards and is the youngest ever recipient of the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship.
Her work has been programmed by conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez and Seiji Ozawa, and she is married to composer Bernard Rands. This Saturday her piece Aurora will receive its UK premiere in a Prom conducted by Daniel Barenboim, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for which she has been Composer in Residence since 1997. The concert will also include a performance of Mahler's 7th symphony.
The performance will begin at the Royal Albert Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 8th September. Box office: 020 7589 8212.
