Women and Philanthropy Today 27ÌýDec 2006
Dame Steve Shirley
The past decade has seen an increase in the number of women involved in philanthropic giving so how different are these modern day donors to their Victorian counterparts? Jenni is joined by Dame Steve Shirley, entrepreneur and founder-director of the Shirley Foundation and Dr Ann Vogel from Singapore Management University who’s an expert on the gift economy.

Why has there been an increase in the number of women philanthropists? why do there seem to be so few high profile women givers in the UK, and do wealthy women have a different approach to giving money away to men?
