Suzy Madge and her all-female team of ‘Lipstick Blondes’ narrowly missed their ambition to reach the summit of the 7,500m peak of Mustagata in China before ski-ing down again, though they did manage a bit of crochet at 6,000 metres. But is their light-hearted girly adventure an inspiration to the women of today, or an insult to the serious women mountaineers that have gone before them?
