Talks about Islamic society andher book 'The story of the Qu’ran'

Dr Ingrid Mattson is the first convert, the first non-immigrant and the first woman to be elected President of the Islamic Society of North America. Raised a Roman Catholic in Canada she is now a highly regarded academic specialising in Islamic society and law. Last year she addressed what was described as the largest gathering of Muslims in North America where she criticised President Bush's use of the term "Islamic fascism" when describing the enemy in the "war on terror.” Described by Newsweek as 'one to watch' she talks to Jane about her book ‘The Story of the Qur’an’, an introduction to Muslim life.

'The Story of the Qur’an – its history and place in Muslim life' by Ingrid Mattson is published by Blackwell Publishing, ISBN: 9781405122580.
