 The first time women could vote and stand as MPs
December 14th marks the 90th anniversary of the Coupon Election, the first election in which women could vote and stand as MPs. The election was called at the last moment, which gave the suffrage societies just twenty three days to prepare. There were also concerns about the 8.5 million women aged over 30 who had recently been enfranchised - would they know how to vote? Jenni is joined by Cheryl Law to explore how women responded to their first opportunity for personal representation in parliament.
