Makeover Mayhem 21 Mar 2008
1960s room - photo coutesy of the Geffrye Museum
What do our decorating choices say about us?

A generation of homeowners took up DIY as the only practical way of maintaining their homes after the war, but necessity became a pastime and the trend forÌýflamboyant interior design peaked in the 1990s when home makeover programmes were a mainstay of the TV schedules. Jane is joined by designerÌýLaurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Christine Lalumia from the Geffrye Museum to discuss the merits of chucking out the chintz and unblocking the fireplace.

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen's History of Â鶹ԼÅÄ- a 10 part series begins at 3.45PM on Easter Monday.
