Dylan Winter
Presenter Dylan Winter in this week's Changing Places
Dylan Winter visits the site of the Olympic Village in East London to see a special nature reserve which has arisen by accident but which may play a part in the way we view neglected and undervalued urban sites.

With environmentalist and urban campaigner Chris Baines, Kate Coss from the London Wildlife Trust and Peter Massini from English Nature, Dylan explores ways in which green spaces can be recognised as urban lungs, shelter from wind and protection from flooding, as well as calm refuges from the smoke and noise of the city.

Travelling further eastwards he also visits a Doorstep green in West Hornden in Essex to find out how local people can have an influence on their neighbourhood green spaces. With the coming of the huge Thames Gateway developments, even the smallest patches of green will play their part in a Green Grid strategy to create a network for wildlife and for people.
