DEMENTIA
It's estimated that three quarters of a million people suffer from dementia in the UK. Dementia is not a specific disease, but a term used for a group of symptoms caused by a number of disorders that affect the brain; symptoms such as memory loss, delusions, dizziness, the ability to solve problems and maintain emotional control.
Raj Persaud talks to Christine Bryden who was diagnosed with the early on-set dementia at just 46 years of age and discusses current psychological and neurological understanding of dementia with Carol Brayne, Professor of Public Health Medicine at Cambridge University and Chairman of the Medical Research Council Cognitive Function and Ageing Study Cooperative and Ian McKeith, Professor of Old Age Psychiatry at Newcastle University.

Since the sixties, this psychological trait has seen a steady increase in the younger generation.
