Honeymoon

Pam Charman describes her honeymoon on the sun-drenched island of St Kitts.

Picture the scene; a bride, her new husband, a sun-drenched island, the night air filled with romance and lust and a mother-in-law close at hand.

Pam Charman describes her self as an accommodating person, who likes to welcome people into her home and life. So when her soon-to-be mother-in-law arrived in England to have some medical treatment, Pam offered her a bedroom. As a thank you, her mother-in-law gave Pam and her husband money to pay for their wedding, and for the honeymoon, she invited them to stay with her in her in her home, on the island of St Kitts, in the Caribbean.

Pam’s new Mother in law had been a headmistress and was used to being in charge, and when Pam and her husband arrived at their honeymoon home, their sleeping accommodation comprised "two single beds and we had to keep the doors open because she said she was nervous and she used to shine a torch along the passage through the door to see what we were up to".

The newly-weds were rather keen to consummate their relationship but found their large frames ( about 14 stone each ) on such small beds didn’t allow for passion. One night with the temperature of their ardour rising, Pam’s husband decided action needed to be taken; "we drove round the front of a field in a sugar plantation and at the age of 60 odd found ourselves consummating in a car."

Happily a chance conversation with a lady at the nearby church about their predicament, resulted in a hotelier offering them two honeymoon days in a condominium. "It was beautiful, a huge room with two big double beds, and no mother in law"

What were your honeymoon experiences - was it honey sweet?
Did it involve other people?
Did you do something different to the traditional blue skies and sunshine romantic honeymoon?
