Ovaltineys Hour

Listen to the item

Betty Hickson was something of a household name in the 1930s: a star thanks to her weekly performances on Radio Luxembourg 's Ovaltiney's Hour as one of the original Ovaltineys. Later, under the name of Joy Conway, she sang with the big bands and that's how she met her husband, the trombonist, Rick Kennedy.

They've been married for 62 years and they kindly invited David round to their house for a chat.
