Operation Yellow RibbonΒ is the name given to Canada's operation created to handle the diversion of civilian airline flights following the attacks of September 11. At the time of the attacks there were about 500 planes en route to the United States with flights entering Canadian airspace at a rate of one to two planes every minute. In the air at that time there were an estimated 45,000 passengers and about half of them were forced to land in Canada.

Jenny Parkin was one of those passengers, en route to Indianapolis. She landed at a place called Gander, in Newfoundland...
