Stammering story

ΜύListen again in full

Last week John Peel asked if Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Truths listeners knew anything about stuttering or stammering and Brian Tasker got in touch…

Brian is 53 now and he has stammered since he was a child. He puts it down to the moment he changed from junior to secondary school and took a lot of flak for still wearing short trousers. He works as a community mental health worker and talking is part of his trade.

Brian was upset when he realised his son Daniel had developed a stammer too. Daniel's stammer emerged at primary school, but Brian believes it got more pronounced when Daniel moved from London to Somerset to live with Brian and his new wife.

Listen to the interview to find out how Brian and Daniel learnt to deal with their stammers.
