Claire wrote: I was standing at the bar waiting to be served when a young man next to me smiled and seemed about to say something. He apologised and explained that he had mistaken me for one Anne-Marie Weedock, of whom I am apparently the spitting image!
Anon wrote: Many moons ago in the fresh flush of youth, I had a boyfriend in a band (sessions for the lovely Mr Peel no less) and missed a particular gig where there was a little trouble, caused by another band members girlfriend, WHO HAD THE SAME NAME AS ME! Years later I still have to explain to people that it was the other *&%$*Β£! who was the deranged one!

"Not me", I said politely. But it took some time to convince him I wasn't the man he wanted.
Janis wrote: I have never been taken to be someone else in person but many times on the telephone at work people would say, "Oh Hi Alison" and off they would go, filling me in on all the latest news, views and gossip. By the time they had finished I was usually too embarrassed to say that "I am not Alison". The worst case was when someone rang to complain about Alison but thinking it was her who picked up the phone complained about me instead!
