Helen Mark travels along the Sculpture Trail in the Royal Forest of Dean, which celebrates its 21st Anniversary this year. Melissa's Swing (pictured) is one of the artworks on the route.
The Royal Forest of Dean is situated on the English and South Wales border.Ìý was the idea of a man who worked in the area who felt that people were becoming disconnected from the Forest environment. The seventeen giant permanent sculptures include a giant’s chair, a huge stained-glass window and a children’s swing. Helen Mark discovers what impact the Trail has on the people who visit the Forest, and on those who live and work in it.
