SUNDAY
Current Project had assignment to complete [yawn] so to the Parental Lair for a decent lunch. Female Parent weepy eyed on the doorstep so knew I was in for the vinegary bordeaux grudgingly poured, followed by the Your Generous Allowance Can't Carry On For Ever There's a Recession dirge from Alpha Parent.
Reminded AP of the vast sums I have saved in school fees, crammer fees and university fees by dipping out of education for a few years, and how I am now clawing back some of the millions he has paid out in taxes by sacrificing myself in the living hell of Borchester College, but as usual he proved incapable of appreciating the long view. It will be his fault if I end up speaking like one of them.
After lunch FP retired to room with migraine and handbag, so no cash handout. Bummer. Collected last week's ironing from Dim Help. Told DH in no uncertain terms that Paul Smith shirts deserve more careful consideration than she has been giving them. Don't they have irons in the Philippines?
Â鶹ԼÅÄ to watch Clarkson DVD on pleb box. That man is a god! I am not worthy. If I can wangle his email from Former Project now working in TV and get five minutes with him I think I could pitch myself into a great little number on that show. I know that me and JC would click like blood brothers and spark great things from each other. The hairy oaf one has no finesse and needs to move on.
Thank heaven I had turned phone off. Six texts from CP. All with smileys. Sometimes I wonder ...
Checked in with Si. He has the DVDs with synopses, all weirdy foreign films with subtitles. At least some of them are in colour this time.
About 7.00 whizzed over to see dotty grandmother. A bunch of garage daffs and half an hour of being dragged around "The Community Lounge" (dreadfully working class considering how much the place costs!) being charmingly polite to her cronies netted a whiskery embrace from the senile rellie and a fifty. Not a bad hour's work. Say what you like about public school education - it teaches you to mind your manners in the right places.
Allowed call from CP. Gave her 20 minutes then said I had to work. Watched Ferris Bueller again. Brilliant film imo. Just Brilliant.
