It's got everything. The lyrics are stupendous, the music simply splendid - the sound of a band in perfect unison and doing what they want to do. It made them massive at the time but if you'd pitched it to a record company they would have told you where to go. A song revolving around the mandolin with "religion" in the title? - Get out of here. We know better.

An amazing song. Incredibly layered, in a lyrical sense, and exquisitely textured, in a musical sense. The vocals pristine in their agonized beauty. The song is deep, dark, and brooding...and yet, somehow, also quite catchy and (amazingly enough) radio friendly. A fine breakthrough for a band who'd lingered on the fringes for far too long. Shame, though, that it overshadowed the even more amazing Country Feedback, from the same record. That song has everything that Losing My Religion has, in far greater supply. Everything, of course, except the mandolin...and the radio friendliness.

What can I say, other than fantastic!!! They make me smile, laugh and even cry but always for the right reasons!!!

It's got the all essential ingredients for a classic song from a ground breaking band - Meaningful, provocative lyrics combined with charming music and a inner message which can mean anything to any listener. In a word 'perfection'

The thing that struck me most about Losing My Religion was that Michael wrote the entire song from out of my head and my life. O.K., besides that Peter's mandolin is as irresistible as the tune itself.
