So another great show done...it's been such a fantastic summer of weekend shows...we've had Radio 1's Big Weekend in Maidstone, Glastonbury, T in the Park, Ibiza and now Creamfields and they've all been so much fun. Today we spoke to Tom from Kasabian who was lovely and really excited to be headlining Creamfields tonight ..we also got 7 out of 9 in our bingo callers game...my favourite was phil the policeman eating an ice cream and two mates who had only been on site for two hours and had managed to get themselves smothered in mud from head to toe, dancing in front of a stall. Right now I'm going to go and watch some Chic on the main stage and then it's back home to get some sleep before I cover for jo whiley tomorrow...don't forget to watch the brilliant Kasabian videos...bye!

Day two of Creamfields is here... it started with four of us from Radio 1 pushing our hire car through deep mud to get into the car park. The sun is out now but it bucketed down with rain last night. Yesterday was great, I flitted between tents, the little Annie Mac Presents tent. Highlights were Little Boots (DJing in high heels and hotpants and going for it proper) and Pnau who were amazing. I did an impromptu set in there too, when one of the DJ's flight got cancelled.

And I got another call last night to say 2manydjs missed their flight and I had to play my official set earlier than planned. So I went on in the Chibuku Annie Mac Presents tent straight after Ian Brown which was nervewracking (check the video) but so much fun in the end. The soundsystem was a dream... DJ-ing with a perfect soundsystem is like driving an amazing car.

I had a quick chat with Eric Prydz backstage before he played Creamfields for the first time.

After the show

So it's been a fantastic day, I came off air about an hour ago and the show was good. I even got to talk to Beth Ditto on the phone who told me she had this hot designer from Australia on the case to make her an outfit to glam it up especially for today but apparently the outfit got dropped in Paris. Oh, the problems of a rock star. Wow! She said she's going to make do with something else she has - she hinted it might be purple - but she is definitely going to look brilliant.

She's going to be on stage soon so I'll stick a photo up here so you can check her look.

Even though we're here in Creamfields, we played live music on this afternoon's show from the Reading festival and spoke to Huw and Colin from Reading and Leeds. And now it's over to my Annie Mac Presents tent where Rachel Barton is DJing. She's doing well and it's filling up, it's so exciting.

I've introduced myself to the crew and the production manager but this afternoon before I play, I'm going to see a bit of Pendulum, a bit of Erol Alkan to get geared up for my set. 12.15 I'm on, til 1.45am in front of 8,000 people. Oh my days.

Mistajam on the Introducing soundsystem

Brap brap! Me and the most excellent Mistajam had a laugh at the back of the Introducing bus... I love him! He's joining Radio 1 from our sister station 1Xtra with a show which he calls the key to the underground - so you have to listen, alright?

After our little gossip Mistajam stayed on the top deck of the bus to open the soundsystem with Machete... drawing all the ravers in straight from the gates. The sun only went in momentarily but he was on the mic "Bring the sun out with drum & bass!!" and I'm not being funny, it worked!

James Barton, founder of Cream - what a talker - he was well impressed with our bad boy backstage "electric lounge"... but the birthday cake we gave him was a bit unimpressive in comparison... we had trouble on the train getting up to Runcorn from London so we kind of did a rush job on the birthday cake. And it got a bit bashed and a bit melted and I secretly thought it looked a bit disgusting but James didn't mind. He confessed when they started up they didn't expect Creamfields to last two years. It's their first time extending the festival to two days and having people camp so he said they are learning a lot!

We've arrived....

So we've arrived at Creamfields 2008 and what a nice surprise: the sun is out! The festival looks enormous and the campsite looks really, really big as well. It's the first year Creamfields have actually had a campsite. It's like they've gone up a level in terms of production and scale of the festival this year and I'm really excited about the weekend ahead.

I'm also really delighted at my little Annie Mac Presents tent that I co-founded right by the Radio 1 area and you have all my bands and all my DJs playing in there. So I'm really excited to get the show on the road. We're going to be speaking to Beth Ditto who is on the main stage, that'll be good.

It's that time at the festival where the punters aren't allowed in yet so right now you see crew and the odd DJ wandering around together. Already we've run into Pendulum and James Ford from Simian Mobile Disco. James had only just got up so he wouldn't let me take his photo for this diary just yet but I did try! I cannot get over how plush and glamorous the radio studio is - chandeliers, pink leather arm chairs - what more can you ask for?!
