We explore the science behind the fear of Anterior Cruciate Ligament injuries.
The fear of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, or ACL, hangs over all athletes. It’s a season-ending injury, agonising, and with a long painful recovery. But why is it happening to so many female footballers?
Research shows that ACL injuries are 3 to 6 times more likely to happen to female athletes than males and in recent years, this has shown in the many headlines that the injury has garnered for female footballers.
In Built Different we explore the science behind this statistic and find out about the solutions that are being put in place to help reduce this number and the preventative measures being introduced within the sport.
