Kutloano Nhlapo talks to some of South Africa's biggest Amapiano stars, including DBN Gogo, Focalistic, Young Stunna and Kamo Mphela, about how their scene has gone global.
It’s an Amapiano special this week! Kutloano Nhlapo AKA Da Kruk, presenter of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ documentary This Is Amapiano, reflects on the rise and rise of the South African musical genre, and in particular how the growth of Amapiano into a global sensation has been intimately connected with dance moves, and viral dance challenges on social media, especially TikTok.
Kutloano hears from some of the hottest artists and producers in the Amapiano game right now, including DBN Gogo, Focalistic, Young Stunna and Kamo Mphela. He also gets an outsider’s perspective from Afrobeats superstar Davido, who has had Amapiano hits thanks to his collaborations with Focalistic.
