Tamy Moyo
Young Zimbabwean star Tamy Moyo tells DJ Edu about her life in showbusiness, and what it's like having her career managed by her mother and father.
Tamy Moyo is only 23, but she’s already had a long career in music and showbusiness. She began singing at seven and recorded her first album aged 13. By the time she was 20, she’d been nominated at the AFRIMA awards in the category of best female artist from Southern Africa, and she’d performed with a string of famous musicians from Zimbabwe and beyond.
She’s the daughter of a well-known Zimbabwean radio presenter, Richard Kohola, and she is managed by him and her mother, Doris Moyo, to this day. As she tells DJ Edu, it isn’t always easy getting your parents to see you as a professional adult, and one of her biggest hits came about after she ignored her father’s advice to drop the song.
