The Italian energy giant ENI has signed a deal with Algeria's Sonatrach to buy more gas. The supplies, which will come under the Mediterranean Sea, will likely reduce Italy's reliance on Russian gas, amid the conflict in Ukraine. James Waddell is the head of European gas at the analysts Energy Aspects in London, and discusses the energy relationship between Africa and the EU. This week, Turkey's central bank held interest rates at 14%, despite inflation running at around 70%. But the country's financial regulator says banks' profitability continues to rise, and we find out more from Murat Gulkan, chairman and chief executive of OMG Capital Advisors in Istanbul.
