Angela Merkel has warned Germans of "four long, hard months" of winter with coronavirus restrictions. A partial lockdown will begin across the country on 2 November and last until 30 November. As bars and restaurants prepare to close except for takeaway, we hear from the owners of two establishments in Berlin and get the details on all the restrictions that will come into force from the Financial Times Berlin bureau chief Guy Chazan. US GDP grew 7.4% between July and September - a record-breaking performance - but the economy, ravaged by coronavirus, is still smaller than a year ago. So what does it actually mean, for the US and its imminent election? We ask Chris Low, chief economist at FHN Financial in New York. Plus, we from Asia's largest slum, Dharavi, in India, to find out why there have been fewer coronavirus cases than had been feared. And online marketplace Etsy says its sales have more than doubled from a year ago, in large part due to the reliance on online shopping during pandemic lockdowns.
