EU proposes €750bn virus recovery package

A €750bn recovery fund has been proposed by the EU Commission to help tackle coronavirus.

A €750bn recovery fund has been proposed by the EU Commission to help tackle coronavirus. Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ economics correspondent Andrew Walker talks us through the proposals, how the funds would be allocated and whether they're likely to be approved. And we get reaction from Danish MEP, Niels Fuglsang. Also in the programme, Uganda is starting to lift its Covid-19 restrictions, but with constraints on public transport still in place, and evening curfews meaning people need to get home before they start, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Catherine Byaruhanga explains the challenges it is all causing. Plus, Denmark was one of the first European countries to enter lockdown, and is also one of the first to have largely relaxed rules, with social distancing and hygiene precautions remaining in place. Stephen Haar of restaurant chain Madklubben discusses the impact the lockdown had on the business. Professor of immunology Allan Randrup Thomsen of the University of Copenhagen considers whether there are risks involved in the early reopening. And we hear concerns from Kim Salomonsen, owner of popular gym Vesterbronx, which is still closed, that the delayed reopening means ongoing uncertainty.
