The US Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, has for the first time acknowledged that Joe Biden won the presidential election, describing him as the president-elect. Plus, the European Commission has proposed two tough new laws to put a check on the power of the world's big technology companies; we get the details from Javier Espinoza, the Financial Times' correspondent in Brussels.
