Argentinian Austerity Measures Announced

Argentina's President Mauricio Macri has announced austerity measures, including the elimination of government ministries and stiff taxes on exports, in an effort to stabilize the economy. Jimena Blanco, Principal Americas Analyst at Verisk Maplecroft, explains exactly what the measures are designed to do.

The Kenyan government has imposed a sales tax of 16 per cent on all petroleum products. Petrol prices immediately rose around 12 per cent as a result. We get reaction on the streets of Nairobi and from Rachel Muthoga, deputy chief executive of KEPSA, which represents private companies in Kenya.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation's website has been blocked in China for what Beijing says are breaches of China's internet rules. We speak to ABC's China correspondent, Bill Birtles.
